LIVE: Catfish and the Bottlemen - Dingwalls

I was really busy the last weeks. Lots happened and I - of course - went on lots of gigs. One of the bands I really enjoyed were Catfish and the Bottlemen.

the band:
Catfish and the Bottlemen are a indie rock band formed 2010 in Llandudno, North Wales. The band consists of lead singer Van McCann, guitar player Billy Bibby, Benji Blakeway on the bass and Bob Hall on the drums. All the band mates are from different areas and got to know each other when they moved to Llandudno. They are signed to Communion Records since 2013 and released three singles: "Homesick", "Rango" and "Pacifier".

In 2014, they signed to Island Record and the 4th single "Kathleen", produced by Jim Abbiss (Arctic Monkeys, Kasabian, Adele) followed and they are set to release their debut album in the end of this year. They are currently on tour and set to perform over 30 festivals in Europe including Reading, Leeds and Latitude.

the gig:
I didn't really plan to go there but as I had the chance to shoot the gig, I just had to jump at the chance. We arrived their quite late and even missed the support act what really bothered me as it was Cortes, one of the best unsigned (or maybe signed now?!) bands I've seen play in Camden recently. But well back to the gig of catfish. It was one of the first summer days here in London and the gig was sold out. Means the venue was packed with screaming girls and the sweat started to drop from the roof - yummiii. There was no way to get in front as everyone tried to get a good spot and even the merchandise girls seemed to be excited to see them play. So in the beginning we had the worst spot ever and couldn't really see a thing let alone breath as it was boiling hot. That's why i couldn't really enjoy the first few songs but it's not the bands fault it was just because of the circumstances.

Well it took us a while to get closer to the stage but in the end we somehow managed to have a spot in front of them. We were squeezed in between the crowd and I took the chance to take a few snaps - what wasn't really easy as my lens fogged up all the time. That's why I prefer festivals in summer.

The band had a really good live show. They were interacting with the audience and even had a chat with some of their fans during their show. "Hey, you there with the grey jacket, whats your name?". The songs sounded like on their record and you could see that they really enjoy the gig. Once again a band I highly recommend you to see live!
